Can you tell us a bit about your journey into music and DJing? When did you first discover electronic music? While still at school, in the late 90’s I started buying records making weekend trips to all of the stores around oxford street, Reachin Records, Central Station, One Stop DJ, BPM etc initially buying mixtapes and eventually buying a 2nd hand belt driven turntable setup with a Gemini mixer. From there practised a lot trying to beat mix and eventually playing at friends house parties etc. From there I starting playing some smaller events friends put on. I’m grateful that I am still invited to play at events and parties after all these years.

How did you decide to approach your mix? Was there a concept behind it? This mix is something a bit different from what I usually play and I really enjoyed putting it together. I recorded it on a Sunday morning and decided to include an assortment of music that suited the time of day, tracks are all at a tempo that suits the that vibe with a few surprises thrown in too.

Are there any particularly special tracks or moments in there for you? Some of the tracks remind me when I lived in Melbourne a while back and was playing bar gigs pretty regularly. The Message (Roots Manuva Remix) - Grandmaster Flash and Soleil Soleil (edit de prince language) - Ahmed Fakroun were on high rotation at the time so it was nice to revisit those tracks and include them in the mix.

What’s on the cards for you for the remainder of 2022? Working on some new music myself along with some collaborations that have been in the pipeline for a while which I am excited about. I don’t have any gigs lined up as yet but open to any opportunities to play some of this sort of vibe out one day.

Name your go-to album or mix compilation for chilling out. I still really enjoy The Morning After - The Ultimate Post Club Companion mix by Mixmaster Morris and KLF’s Chill Out.
